This project takes shape around a reading group formed in 2020 by Andy Broadey, Simon Blackmore and Helen Knowles which explored the text by Yuk Hui The Question Concerning Technology in China. Since then other artists, Paul Dolan, EL Putnam and Alis Oldfield have engaged in reading further texts which are resonant to the theme of Cosmotechnics. These have included:
• Recursivity and Contingency, Hui, Yuk (2019)
• Machine and ecology, Hui, Yuk (2020).
• Assemblage Theory and Method, Buchanan, Ian (2020)
• Unthought, The power of the cognitive nonconscious, N. Katherine Hayles (2017)
• Individuation in Light of Notions of Form and Information, Simondon, Gilbert (2020)
In our multi-media practices, we have addressed and expanded many of the themes of cosmotechnics to curate exhibitions, workshops and make art work in our own individual practices or sometimes joining forces on particular projects.
